Polarized Sunglasses

The digital displays of watches and other devices are normally polarized. What related problem can occur when wearing polarized sunglasses?

I need to buy a few small sheets of optically clear polarized glass. 12"x12" would be more than big enough for what I need to do. Bigger is great. Internet searches return TONS of "polarized sunglasses" hits but very little on just plain old polarized glass!

why we call them polarized?

I was around people welding and looked at the flash while wearing my polarized sunglasses for a few seconds. Can this do any damage?

I am planning on picking up some new sunglasses because the cheap crap I pick up at Wal-Mart break after 3 or 4 days.

I want to buy a pair of Polarized Half Jacket’s (XLJ)

My only question to you fellow aviators who have tons of more experience is.. are polarized lenses good while flying?

To clarify anything, I live in South Florida, and the sun down here is brutal.

I’m starting the police academy in August, and upon completion I’ll need a pair of durable, polarized sunglasses to deal with the high glare and potentially violent environment I’ll be faced with on a daily basis. I’d like to find a pair of aviator style glasses as well. What do you recommend?

I just purchased a pair of oakley’s polarized sunglasses and have found them to give me a slight headache, dizziness, and make some surfaces appear more reflective than normal. I thought polarized lenses reduced light’s reflection? Also when closing one eye (looking only through one lens) my vision isn’t as distorted. Is it possible Oakley sent a pair with different lenses (one without polarization or one or both lenses with prescription)? By the way, I also wear contact lenses, if this could have something to do with it?

I want some lenses that you can’t see my eyes from the opposite side, does that mean i want polarized?

I’ve been looking to finally upgrade from my old reliable Nautica CR-39 Polarized Sunglasses that I’ve had since late 2001. I’ve been looking at Smith Optics; The "Theory" model caught my attention because I like the smaller sized frames that don’t take up half your face. My main questions are

How are Smith sunglasses in general. I would primarily use them for casual wear or driving, and use during contact sports such as football/baseball.

Are the Polarchromic/Photochromic lenses worth the extra dollars?

I bought a pair of designer sunglasses today, and within 2 minutes of wearing them my eyes felt heavy and I had to take them off right away. Is this normal? Does it take time like an hour for your eyes to adapt to new sunglasses? By the way I tried polarized sunglasses as well and had similar feeling. I have 20/20 vision, no eye issue whatsover

Ok i’m getting the gascan but am not sure whether to get the black iridium polarized or grey polarized…The black polarized is for "intense sun" whereas the grey polarized is for "sunny"

I’m a little confused by the wording. Correct me if I’m wrong but does this mean that there are 3 interchangeable lenses, one of which is polarized?

why do polarizing sunglasses usually reduce the glare of reflected light from a level surface better than ordinary sunglasses?

im buying some aviator shades and the gradient pair costs 135 and the polarized pair is 185
whys the polarized pair more, whats the difference?

I have purchased a pair of quite expensive sun glasses which have polarized lens. I also have a pair of simple glasses with about +-3/4 on each eye.
For some reason when I use the new polarized sunglasses my vision gets worse than using no glasses at all. What maybe the reason?
If it is because they are polarized then what can I do to see better with polarized lens?
Maybe defective lens are the cause? It was the last couple in the store and they are expensive and of a known brand.

I’m looking for a new, high quality & polarized pair of men’s sunglasses. I’ve had my experience with sunglasses and they aren’t good for your eyes, period. They give me headaches, make my eyes feel bad, so its time to upgrade. What brand do you think is best? Looking for something that is stylish, and polarized, offering good protection for the eyes. Looking at Revos, Ray Bans & Maui Jims. Any price is fine, I just want a good pair of sunglasses. Thank you.
